LESSON GOAL
BY THE END OF THIS LESSON,
you’ll understand the different ways you can give — not just money, but also time, talents, and thoughtful gifts. You’ll discover how to use whatever you have to help others and make a difference, even without spending a dime.
💬 let’s break it down
Giving doesn’t always mean handing someone money. 💵
You have SO many ways to share and show kindness. In fact, you’re already rich in other ways — with your time, your talents, and your heart.
Here are 3 powerful ways to give:
🕒 Time – Helping someone clean, spending time with a younger sibling, reading to someone, or volunteering. Your time is valuable.
💸 Money – Donating a few dollars from your Share bucket to a cause you care about or buying something helpful for someone in need.
🎁 Gifts – This could be something you make, like a drawing or bracelet, or something you give away that you already own and don’t use.
The point of giving isn’t how much you give — it’s the thought, the heart, and the effort you put in.
Every little act of kindness creates a ripple. 🌊
🧠 ANALOGY: Giving is Like Planting Seeds
Every time you give, you plant a tiny seed.
You may not always see what grows from it right away, but over time, your kindness spreads — like flowers blooming in places you didn’t expect. 🌸
Give with love, and you’ll grow something beautiful.
🤔 critical thinking questions
Which is easier for you to give: time, money, or gifts? Why?
Why might someone value your time more than your money?
Can you think of a time when a small gift or kind action made your day better?
How can giving something simple still mean a lot?
✍️ journal entry: “The Best Gift I Ever Gave (or Got)”
Write or draw about a time you gave someone a special gift or did something kind for them — or a time someone did that for you.
Then write: Which way of giving (time, money, or gifts) do you want to try more of this month?
👨👩👧👦 ACTIVITY WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS: Giving Challenge Spinner
What You’ll Need:
A paper spinner or jar
3 slips of paper labeled: “Time,” “Money,” “Gift”
Your family, sibling, or friend
What to Do:
Take turns spinning (or drawing from the jar).
Whatever you land on, think of one way to give in that category this week.
Time: Help someone clean up or play with someone who’s lonely
Money: Donate $1 to a cause or buy a friend a snack
Gift: Make a card, bracelet, or give something you don’t need
🎯 What This Teaches: Giving looks different for everyone — and each type of giving is meaningful in its own way.
💵 real-life practice: Pick One Way to Give This Week
Choose one way to share from the 3 types:
Time
Money
Gift
Then go out and do it!
Write about how it made you feel — and ask the person how it made them feel too.
🌟 Bonus: Make a “Ways I Gave” chart for the month and color in each square when you share time, money, or gifts.
